From the late 1970’s the SP370 paired a compact 370 cm³ 4-stroke 1-cylinder SOHC 2-valve engine with a highly rigid semi-double cradle pipe frame that used high-tensile steel pipes. Maximum torque of 28.4 N·m arrives at 4,000 rpm, it was an easy-to-handle engine with flat torque characteristics from low- to high- rpm ranges. The bike also had excellent cushioning performance with a front fork stroke of 195 mm. It also featured an aluminum bottom case to reduce unsprung weight and a forward-tilted inverted rear suspension with nitrogen gas-filled shock absorbers to create a longer cushion stroke. In addition to the compact engine, the SP370 is also distinguished by its extremely lightweight chassis at 123 kg. Being a twin shocker it would be worth a bit of money now but ended its life dumped in a welsh village called Cilycwm as the thing was a pig to start and predictably unreliable.
